The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) provides leadership, oversight, and deeper engagement with the postdoctoral community, addresses some of the challenges encountered by Penn’s postdoctoral population, as well as improves upon the experience of postdoctoral trainees and researchers, and aims to strengthen the postdoctoral community overall. OPA provides administrative and policy guidance to all Penn’s schools, including the Office of Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs at Perelman, and coordinates the implementation of collaborative initiatives to serve the entire Penn postdoctoral population.

The Penn Center for Innovation (PCI) helps to translate Penn discoveries and ideas into new products and businesses for the benefit of society. It does this by facilitating technology development connections between Penn and the private sector. Whether the end result is a technology license, an R&D alliance, the formation of a new venture or an integrated combination of any or all of these activities, PCI serves as a dedicated one-stop shop for commercial partnering with Penn.
IRB promotes and protects the welfare of human research participants by reviewing and approving all human subject research conducted on Penn’s campus.
Management of the University’s Research-related Financial Conflicts of Interest Program and oversight of the Office’s commitment to Responsible Conduct of Research and Research Integrity.
The Office of Animal Welfare (OAW) provides comprehensive support and guidance to the animal research community on matters related to Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocol development and ensuring regulatory compliance for the animal program. IACUC is responsible for assuring that the research and teaching animals at the institution are maintained with the highest level of welfare.
EHRS promotes health, safety, and environmental protection in teaching, research, and healthcare programs and facilities by providing services, advice, and compliance assistance.
The Office of Research Services (ORS) is responsible for supporting University investigators and administrators by managing externally sponsored research projects through the pre-award and post-award processes. ORS administers sponsored projects and maintains electronic records via PennERA.
ULAR is a campus wide research service organization that provides daily animal husbandry, veterinary care and diagnostic services.
