The Export Compliance Office in the Office of Research Services is available to help navigate export controls and sanction issues as they arise, and can assist in determining what regulations are applicable, if an export license may be required, and apply for licenses as necessary.
Penn has incorporated restricted party screening and export review into business processes for international shipping (eShip@Penn) and vendor onboarding. The Export Compliance Office also reviews collaborations, material transfers (Research Inventory System or RIS), and sponsored activities (PennERA). If issues are identified, the export team will reach out to determine how to best establish the research engagement in compliance with the regulations.
