Compliance Reviews

Occasionally, a compliance review may be performed by the University and can also be initiated upon request of the researcher.  If the University performs an internal compliance review, there is no presumption of wrongdoing.  The compliance personnel and/or the Office of the General Counsel can be routinely involved with the review, as well as others if appropriate.  Generally, the University works with the researcher to collect relevant information.  Reviews/Investigations are conducted in accordance with the Faculty Handbook, relevant Human Resources (HR) processes and other Penn policies.

An individual’s Business Administrator or preaward contact is available to assist with an assessment of proposed outside activity against available effort to ensure a researcher is not over-committed, for example, they can evaluate a proposed agreement against current agreements for available time and effort.
